| SECTIONAL BUYING GUIDE
Purchasing
a sectional is a long term investment to your home décor. While considering
your new purchase you should look at: The benefits of purchasing a sectional,
its upholstery, surrounding décor, dimensions, legs, and cushions.
Why purchase a sectional? Purchasing a
sectional provides you with the most flexibility. Since sectionals have several, distinct
pieces, you can re-arrange the parts however you see best fit. Most sectionals are in an “L” shape but do
not need to be.
Leather sectionals: Leather sectionals are classy, easy to clean, and
durable. Few things say elegance as well as a leather sectional. However, they get hot in the summer, and cold
in the winter, and sometimes it may take a little while to break them in
because the material is tougher than normal fabric. Suede sectionals- The greatest advantage of a suede
sectional is that its material does not change much depending on the
temperature. Regardless of the weather
outside, a suede sectional, unlike leather, will not get too sticky or
cold. However, suede is tough to clean,
and doesn’t always exude the same type of elegance as does leather. For either
a leather sectional or a suede sectional, keep in mind that if you’re expecting
a lot of damage or spilling on it, it may be best to get a darker fabric or a
patterned fabric.
Surrounding
décor: A sectional will set the tempo for the rest of the
room it is in. If you buy a modern
sectional, it makes sense to have modern furniture around it. Does the
sectional match the current style of the room it is in? Will purchasing a specific sectional require
that you’d have to change the surrounding furniture as well? Dimensions: Fit the sectional to the size of both the room and the
people you expect to be sitting in it.
If you have a large room, make sure you get a large sectional to fill
that room to minimize the empty spaces. The
same goes true for a small sectional and a small room. You don’t want too much, or too little vacant
space in your living room.
Legs and cushions: Most modern sectionals have their legs shown instead
of skirted legs. However, if you are looking for a more classic look, a skirted
base may be best. Most of the modern
sectionals have straight lined steel or wooden bases. You should also look at the amount of
cushions on the sectional as they are a good indication of its seating
capacity. Purchasing
the right sectional can immediately enhance any home décor as it is usually the
focal point of any living room.
